„Era, parca, un alt vazduh acolo. O lume care se stinsese cu incetul in celelalte cartiere mandre ale capitalei si care se pastrase aici cuviincioasa, fara agonia decrepitudinii si a mizeriei. Era o casa boiereasca de pe vremuri, bine pastrata. Doar umezeala arborilor vestejise prea de timpuriu fatada.” (Mircea Eliade – Secretul Doctorului Honigberger)
HellO, WOrld!
Yes, I found a magic place, right in the middle of Bucharest. That reminds me of the stories from Eliade’s novels.
But it’s very well hidden. And I think you can discover it only in the early days of Spring, or maybe in the warm light of October, when the air look like a golden liquid, created by some old alchemist in his laboratory. And I don’t know why, when I found this place, I felt like I was the main character from the „The Secret of Dr. Honignerger” novel of Eliade. Maybe because an old lady was watching me from her window, with an imperturbable face, while I was making this photos. Or maybe because there were so many cats around. I was so fascinated by that place, that I came home and I start to read again the novel. And now I’m sure that I have to come back there. Maybe next time, the old lady will invite me for a coffee in the magistic library of her villa. And I will discover there all the big books of Alchemy & Theosophy. And I will be fascinated by those books, that I will never leave the library. Not for a year, or ten, or fifty years. And when I will go out, I will find that everything has changed in Bucharest and all the old houses are gone forever, except the ones from this small street hidden behind the Patriarcal Palace.
