„A boilersuit is a loose fitting garment covering the whole body except for the head, hands and feet. The 1989 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary lists the word boilersuit first on 28 October 1928 in the Sunday Express newspaper. The garment is also known as coveralls in North America, or as an overall (or „overalls”) elsewhere, especially in the UK.” (Wikipedia)

As you can see, the term ‘boiler suit’ is more likely to conjure images of workmen in protective overalls,  than a chic office outfit or a cool-but-polished off duty ensemble. But Prada, Boss or Ralph Lauren includes this kind of suits in their collection, and now everybody needs to wear a jumpsuit. And nobody can deny the appeal of a guy in a boilersuit.

I would love to see more on the streets, especially now, after the Labor Day. We have a Casual Friday, why not a Boilersuit Wednesday? I love this one, created for me by Alexandru Simedru, the winner of The Best Young Designer prize at Elle Style Awards 2017  Gala. It looks more like a military pilot jumpsuit, but it has some details that are Alexandru’s trademark, and it makes it very cool. You can contact him on his website if you want a designer jumpsuit (Antonia, Alex Velea & INNA, are also Simedru’s fans). Or,  if you want more options, you can explore the vintage or the SH shops and find some cool overalls from the early ’90s. With the right accessories and shoes, you can be the coolest guy at the party. Or you can wear it at the office, why not? Anyway, you can’t survive this season without an boiler suit in your closet. Even if you are not a very handy man. But who cares, as long as you will be the trendy guy.

O.
